ISOPRENE

Isoprene is an unsaturated hydrocarbon with 5 carbon atoms bonded. It is a colorless, volatile liquid.

It is mainly used for tires, viscosity enhancers, etc.

Plant processes

Raw-C5 that is produced in an aromatic plant, is to produce isoprene in the isoprene unit at the C5 plant, which consists of three plant processes producing isoprene unit, piperylene unit and DCPD unit.

  • Isoprene Unit
    Extraction (ACN(CH3CN)) of isoprene contained in Raw-C5 is a process for producing high purity isoprene by distillation. The remaining mixture of piperylene and DCPD is sent to the piperylene process from the bottom of the tower.
  • Piperylene Unit
    The mixture of piperylene and DCPD is distilled to produce piperylene at the top of the tower, and the remaining DCPD mixture is sent from the bottom of the tower for the process of dissipation.
  • DCPD Unit
    This unit produces final DCPD by purifying the DCPD mixture.
Product uses

Used as a raw material for tires and high functional adhesives.
